Europe Faces Rising Geopolitical Uncertainty

Europe is entering 2026 under intensifying geopolitical strain as Russia’s war against Ukraine persists, transatlantic relations face renewed stress, and security, energy, and economic pressures converge. Russia’s continued aerial and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, including devastating blows to energy systems in sub-zero winter conditions - have deepened humanitarian hardship and underlined the war’s brutality.
